At the end of July 2009, over 100 people packed a church hall in Largs to express their anger and opposition to controversial proposals to build a coal-fired power station at Hunterston.

The first meeting in Largs

The public meeting – held in conjunction with Planning Democracy and Environmental Law Centre Scotland - saw the launch of a community based campaign, which has united people from across the region in a campaign that is fast growing both in size and impact.
